About Great Falls, Montana

   Out River Drive*, just a few hundred yards northeast of Great Falls, on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River is the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail Interpretive Center. We urge you to visit the Center. Those famous explorers took 11 days to portage around the series of waterfalls in the Missouri River here. While many dams - and their associated containments - have been added since, the waterfalls are still a sight to see.

*Take River Drive, following the Missouri River downstream, to where River Drive splits off to the right. Continuing along the bluff overlooking the Missouri, the road is now named Giant Springs Road. There are ample signs directing you to the Center.
