Visitors' Center - From I-81 take exit 247-B and follow US-33 to downtown Harrisonburg. At the junction of Main Street (US-11) turn right and continue 4 blocks to East Gay Street. The Harrisonburg-Rockingham Convention & Visitors Bureau is around the corner (to your right) at 10 East Gay Street.

Virginia Quilt Museum - Housed in the ca 1856 Warren-Sipe House is a large display of hand-crafted quilts from the 18th Century to present day. Stressed is the role quilting has (and does) play in the cultural life of society. A gift shop is also on the premises.
  Open Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10a to 4p; Sundays from 1 to 4p. Closed major holidays. Admission: $5; kids 6 through 12, $2.

  From I-81 take exit 245 (Port Republic Road). If northbound, turn left; if southbound, turn right. Follow Port Republic Road to Main Street (US-11). Turn right on Main and travel northbound to the Museum at 301 South Main. Immediately after you pass the Municipal Building, turn left into the free parking area (between Main Street and Liberty Street). .

Silver Lake Mill - Constructed ca 1823, the Silver Lake Mill functioned as a 'grist mill' (grinding corn into meal). Partially destroyed by fire in 1856 it was quickly rebuilt. Burned again, this time by General Custer's Union troops during the Civil War and again rebuilt. The last commercial owner, Rockingham Milling Company, finally closed the mill and donated the property to the Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Historical Society in 1997. Unfortunately, they didn't have the funding required to restore the mill and sold it to its present owner, LDA Creations, which now used the building to house their custom china decorating operations.
  While no longer used as a mill, the building is still very interesting. The objects d'art - mostly created or decorated by LDA Creations - are also well worth a visit.

  From I-81 exit 245, drive westbound on Port Republic Road. Go straight through the intersection with Main Street (US-11). At the next traffic light, turn left onto VA-42 (High Street). Continue 3 more miles (southbound) to Dayton.  At Eberly Road (Route 732) turn right, then right again at the stop sign onto Silver Lake Road. The mill will be on your left at 2328 Silver Lake Road...
